Why does my wife’s coffee taste better than mine 🤔 — Why does App UX matter?
I want to share funny experiences during the initial days of lockdown, or should I say home arrest 😂
In March 2020, Post lockdown in our city when I and my wife both were working from home and badly missing those days when we used to visit the cafe for our morning coffee.
We decided to purchase Nescafe smart coffee maker and never regretted buying it. (Disclaimer — Only sharing my experience not doing the brand promotion)
For few days, I observed that when my wife used to make coffee it tasted better than mine. Although, we were making the same type of coffee i.e “Mochaccino” and were using the same measuring spoon and container.
I wonder how 🤔? It was quite amusing when I found out that it is because of the Mobile Application UX.
She was using her iPhone and I was using my Android phone for making coffee.
If you observe closely, the recipe ingredients are different in both mobile applications.
Somehow, the Nescafe E mobile application development team or UX team forgot to validate the information they providing in both the platform applications Or Maybe they thought that Android users can’t afford extra ingredient 😅
User experience — Why does it matter?
In laymen's terms User experience — encompasses all aspects of the end-users interaction with the company, its services, and its products.
Nick Babich quotes — The best products do two things well: features and details. Features are what draw people to your product. Details are what keep them there.
In this case, The feature provided is the same in both the applications but the details and information are not credible.
What User experience includes :
- Research
- Usability
- Information architecture
- Visual design
- Content
UX as per ISO 9241–210— A person’s perceptions and responses that result from the use and/or anticipated use of a product, system or service.
Thus user experience includes all effects the use of an interface has on the user– before, during and after use.
General advice for the junior developers or Senior developers working as Mini CEO’s 😂. Do listen to your UX team while introducing any changes in Product user interface or in feature.
